Champaign is ranked 15th in population among all Illinois cities with a population of approximately 68,500 permanent residents. Its location in the east central portion of the state is at the crossroads of I-74 and I-57.

Internationally recognized for the outstanding facilities and education provided by the University of Illinois, Champaign is also known for its excellent agricultural production. The University has helped to make this community one of the most cosmopolitan of the state's small towns. Municipal, organizational, and university Web sites do a wonderful job of providing online information about Champaign, so the remainder of this page will consist of a series of links to those sites.
