About 1,200 people call Homer "home." Homer-area residents enjoy the beauty of the Salt Fork River Forest Preserve with its 800 acres set aside for the purpose of recreation and protection of wildlife around Homer Lake. The county highway bordering the north end of the preserve was the horse trail Abraham Lincoln traveled when he served on the judicial circuit. The recently completed Outdoor Recreation Center (left) affords guests a wonderful view of the lake.

The Homer Historical Society Museum, housed in the old town hall on Main Street has an exhibit on Homer's World War II hero, Wesley Tibbetts, who was a Golden Gloves boxer. Homer's townsfolk are busy with a renovation project. Watch their progress of the Odd Fellows Hall restoration into the Homer Emporium.
